Good Eating Habits

The word nutrition is about the food we eat and the way our bodies use this food. Different foods contain different nutrients. Each person needs certain amounts of different nutrients to maintain his or her health. Therefore, we need to eat a variety of foods each day.

People tend to ignore eating fruits and vegetables most often, yet there are many vitamins and minerals found only in this food group. For adults, the challenge is to eat servings from each group and not gain extra weight. In most cases, avoiding sweets and fats helps. Desserts, soda, and candy are very high in calories and provide little of the nutrients that our bodies require.
